Mario Hernando, Head of Media, Television and Communications at the ACB, Spain's professional basketball league, has joined the World Padel Tour as the new CEO in what is a clear move by the international padel circuit to develop and sustainably grow a competition that increases its value on a daily basis. The World Padel Tour also incorporates a business model that offers sponsors important returns on their investments.
The World Padel Tour reinforces itself by incorporating new professionals, adopting a strategical decision in the audiovisual and new technologies' sector. In each of the Tour's events in 2016 the WPT's increasing value can be verified by the important increase in people attending the events, TV spectators and digital media. A sport that is practised by over 4 million people finds a way to connect and engage people via the World Padel Tour.
Mario Hernando brings his successful experience in a hugely popular sport such as basketball to padel. After almost 20 years at the ACB at the head of strategical areas such as communication, television and social networks, he joins the World Padel Tour to lead an expansion process that already has deep roots in spain, Argentina, Portugal, Monaco and Andorra, and that will move to Miami, Mexico and Italy in 2017.
Javier Porras, who we'd like to thank for his dedication, work and professionalism throughout his tenure at the head of the World Padel Tour, leaves the project to take on new professional challenges.
