Following the Vigo Open 2022 last week, The Race 2022 is taking shape with three tournaments in the book.

The Race is a ranking taking into account the current season's results only. At the end of the season, the top 16 players - not the top eight pairs - qualify for the Estrella Damm Master Final.

If a pair has one player in the top 16 and another outside of it, the top 16 player has to pair up with another top 16 player to play the event with.

The women's season still has 19 more tournaments until the Master Final in December, so there is still a very long way to go, but this is how The Race is shaping up after Vigo.

No changes in top four

Despite losing the final in Vigo, Alejandra Salazar and Gemma Triay still hold first place with 2.600 points from a possible 3.000. Their gap has been halved to 400 points, however, with Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría on 2.200 points after victory in Vigo.

Third and fourth place are still occupied by Marta Ortega/Bea González and Mapi/Majo Sánchez Alayeto respectively, although the gap to the two top seeds is over 1.200 points already.

After making their first semi-finals of the season, Patricia Llaguno and Virginia Riera have made their way into the top five.

Seventh-seeded Victoria Iglesias and Aranza Osoro are now into the top 20 of The Race after reaching the quarter-finals.
