Former number ones of the world Lucía Sainz and Marta Marrero have announced they have split following the Adeslas Santander-Cantabria Open 2022.
Almost exactly a year on from when they first got together ahead of the 2021 Menorca Open, Sainz and Marrero will now find new partners for the same tournament in the current season.
The two Spaniards reached a total of two finals together in the back end of the 2021 season but failed to make it to a Sunday in the 2022 campaign.
While Sainz and Marrero won the Mallorca Challenger and made five semi-finals in 2022, they only made one semi-final in the last seven tournaments.
