They would win another at the CDMX Open to finish the season as the fourth-seeded duo. After two quarter-final and semi-final exits to start 2022, the duo decided to split in the almost month-long break between Alicante and Brussels.Ruiz, a break-out player in 2021, will now unite with the young star Momo González, who hails from Málaga just like Ruiz. Momo González: High highs and Master Final debutThe stand-out achievement in 2021 for Jerónimo González, better known as Momo, will have been when the then 24-year-old reached the final of the Santander Open alongside his partner Javi Rico. It was Momo's first-ever Open final.Rico and González would also win two Challenger events in Marbella and La Nucía and reach the final in Lerma. This underlined their status as one of the most exciting young partnerships in WPT.González was drafted into the Estrella Damm Master Final at the end of the season to play alongside Pablo Lima, his first outing at the most coveted tournament of them all. While going out in the quarter-finals, it was a great showing nonetheless. In 2022, González and Rico never managed to get past the round of 16 in the first four tournaments.
