The fourth event of the season on the World Padel Tour came to an end last Sunday after an exciting week of action at the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona. A classic tournament within the calendar which has broken the record for most spectators attending a professional tournament. In total, up to 21,560 spectators visited the tournament from Tuesday the 30th until Sunday the 4th.
Centre court at the Real Club de Polo has a capacity for 4000 spectators, and never recorded an attendance of under 71% throughout the tournament. No one wanted to miss out on the tournament, creting a unique atmosphere from the get go. Such was the demand that all tickets were sold out from Thursday to Sunday. An unprecedented feat which goes to show the growth of this sport and the World Padel Tour as a whole.
The total number of spectators (without taking into account the thousands of people that watched matches on Court 2) is up there with other international events that have taken place in Barcelona in the last few years. The World Swimming Championships (14,700 spectators), the Final Four of the Euroleague (23,600) or the European Indoor Athletics Championships.
The task is to overcome that number, setting Barcelona apart from other cities in the world.
Thank you to everyone!
