The fever for the World Padel Tour continues to spread at lightning speed in Spain. The broadcast of the Estrella Damm Alicante Open was followed by a remarkable amount of spectators on Gol. The semifinals and final of the recent Open have registered very high shares, indicating that the World Padel Tour is a huge attraction for sports fans.

The broadcast began on Saturday the 26th of August at 10:30h in the morning with the first women's semifinal between Teresa Navarro - Victoria Iglesias and Marta Marrero - Cata Tenorio. That match reached a 1% share. From 11 to 11:45, just when the final set took place, it was always above 1% and almost reached 2%.

The most spectacular match of the Open brough with it the best audience ratings. The semifinal between Juan Tello - Fede Chingotto and Fernando Belasteguín - Pablo Lima had spectators glued to their TV sets for over two hours. 139 minutes of exquisite padel with an average 1.6% share. The match started off strongly and in the first 45 minutes, the audience 'surfed' over 2% and reached a peak of 2.5%. A match that lead the ratings on all sports channels. The end of the match recorded an average of over 100,000 spectators per minute, reaching peaks of 120,000 spectators.

Over 140,000 spectators per minute

The men's final was the fifth most seen event of the day, only beaten by live football and highlights of the Spanish league. The average share for the more than two hours that the final took was 1.2%, almost reaching 100,000 spectators per minute on average. From 12:50 to 13:15, the share surpassed 2% and reached a maximum of 2.5%. In this slot of almost 30 minutes there was a minimum of 120,000 spectators per minute and a maximum of 142,000 spectators. Incredible ratings for an incredible match between the top two pairings in the world. The final lead the ratings in its time slot for sports channels and went toe to toe with most terrestial channels. The women's final between the Alayeto sisters and Marta Marrero and Cata Tenorio that took place on Sunday the 27th of August at 10:00 AM was close to 1%.
