Alex Corretja joins World Padel Tour as President Advisor

The renowned former tennis player assumes the position effective immediately, with the aim of strengthening the new project that is being carried out by World Padel Tour.

World Padel Tour has taken another step forward in the creation of its new project for professional padel as it has incorporated Alex Corretja (Barcelona, 1974) in its board of directors. As of today, the sportsman will take over the position of President Advisor, the president being Ramón Agenjo since 2017.

With his addition, Corretja, one of the most decorated athletes in the history of Spanish sport, will bring his experience and knowledge in organising and managing major sporting events.

"I am proud and excited to be part of the company that has transformed padel into a world-class professional sport. From now on my efforts will be focused on bringing my experience to the new project, which I am convinced will be to the liking of both the male and female players on the circuit," said Corretja.

On his behalf, World Padel Tour President Ramón Agenjo added: "We are proud to incorporate a figure like Alex to our magnificent team. Together with him we will face a new challenge-filled chapter that will surely lead us to situate World Padel Tour at the forefront of the 21st century to satisfy the needs of players and fans".

In a career full of successes, Corretja got as high as number 2 in the tennis world rankings. Champion of the legendary 1998 Masters Tournament, he was a member of the team that won the Davis Cup in 2000, an Olympic Bronze medallist in Sydney alongside Albert Costa, a two-time finalist at Roland Garros in 1998 and 2001 and winner of 17 ATP tournaments.

Alex was also noted for his work as a representative of professional tennis players, becoming president of the ATP council in 1997.
