Two red-hot matches define the final in Arroyo de la Encomienda

The women's final of the Arroyo de la Encomienda Challenger was defined after two exciting semifinals between four pairings that gave everything to be in with a chance of lifting the trophy on Sunday.

In the first semifinal, Cata Tenorio and Bea González, who have already reached a final at a Challenger in 2018, took on Delfi Brea and Ana Catarina Nogueira, who were here on the back of a shock win over Teresa Navarro and Victoria Iglesias. The match started with the Portuguese/Argentine pairing settling down quickly and breaking the number two seeds. Cata and Bea reacted rapidly and broke not once but twice to win 6-4. In the second set, Delfi Brea and Ana Catarina Nogueira struck first again, with a break in the sixth game. Gonzalez and Tenorio got back in it, but just as they had the chance to make it 5-5, they were broken again and the set slipped away from them at 6-4. Delfina Brea was in fine form and Nogueira was as reliable as they come. They broke in the fourth game of the final set and they would never look back. 6-3 was the final scoreline as Ana Catarina Nogueira and Delfi Brea reached their first final on the World Padel Tour.

The second semifnal was also an up and down affaire but with much sharper extremes. The number one seeds, Cecilia Reiter and Carolina Navarro were aiming for their second final of the season after the Melilla Challenger as they took on Mari Carmen Villalba and Alba Galán. The Spaniard and the Argentine got off to a whirlwind start of almost perfect padel which saw them win 6-1. The response was a shocking turn of the tide. Villalba and Galan hit them back with a brilliant performance of their won, also winning 6-1. Everything was set up for a nail-biting deciding set but there was still another twist. Navarro and Reiter played the perfect set to win 6-0 and reach the final.

On Sunday at 10:00 in the morning, Ana Catarina Nogueira and Delfi Brea will take on Carolina Navarro and Cecilia Reiter in the final of the Arroyo de la Encomienda Challenger.
