Thursday's Adeslas Santander-Cantabria Open 2022 round of 16 saw all of the top seeds spring into life at the Palacio de los Deportes on the Spanish north coast.
Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría are the top-seeded pair at a tournament for the first time this week, but were pushed to the brink of elimination in their match against holders Delfi Brea and Tamara Icardo.
One of the top eight seeds was knocked out as well, Mapi and Majo Sánchez Alayeto's streak of consecutive semi-final appearances coming to an end.
