The WOpen shakes up the rankings with Granada around the corner

The 2018 season on the World Padel Tour reaches the final stretch. With four tournaments and the Master Final remaining, the fight is on to improve in the rankings. This Monday, the points from last year's Andorra Open were dropped, and while none were added in the men's category, in the women's there was the Madrid WOpen 2018The next event on the horizon is the Granada Open 2018which will bring together the best players in the world at the Palacio de los Deportes from the 7th to the 14th of October. Here's a roundup of the current rankings:

Women's rankings

For yet another week, Majo and Mapi Sánchez Alayeto command the rankings with a total of 12,670 points. The twins maintain their advantage over Gemma Triay and Lucía Sainzwho are on 10,905. Meanwhile, the recent winners of the WOpen, Marta Marrero and Alejandra Salazarhave reduced the deficit and are on 9075 and 7100 respectively. There are no changes in the positions that grant access to the Master Final. This week's biggest climber is Melania Merinowho has gone up 14 places and is 80th.

Men's rankings

After subtracting the points from the Andorra Open 2017, there are no changes to the positions that give access to the Master Final. In Granada, Maxi Sánchez will play for the first time as the world number one thanks to his 12,910 points. Alongside Sanyo Gutiérrezthey will also be the world number one pairing for the first time. Of the top 50 players, the biggest improvement belongs to Aday Santanawho has gone up three spots to 33rd.
