The women played on centre court for the first time at the Cervezas Victoria Mijas Open 2018. It was time for the quarter finals.
The world number ones, Majo and Mapi Sánchez Alayeto, took on Teresa Navarro and Victoria Iglesias. The twins opened up the first lead with a break in the opening game. With a stenr control of the net, they increased that advantage to make it 4-1. This clear domination continued right until the end, as they won 6-2 in 50 minutes. They continued in the second set with a break in the opening game. Mapi and Majo were punishing their opponents with their powerful aerial play. At 2-1 up, Teresa Navarro was forced to retire because of a stomach flu, leaving the twins in the semifinals.
