The rankings heat up after the fifth Open of the season

There have been significant changes to the rankings after the tour stopped off in Gran Canaria. After their second titleCristian Gutiérrez ad Franco Stupaczuk grabbed a handful of points. Gutierrez remains in 9th on 4125 points and his partner continues to rise through the rankings. Stupaczuk is now seventh on 4855 points, climbing above Miguel Lamperti. In fact, if it wasn't for Juani Mieres's protected ranking, Cristian and Stupa would be the number four seeds at the upcoming Estrella Damm Alicante Open. A privilege that means you avoid the first round of the main draw. The battle for fourth place will be fascinating until the end of the season. The distance between the number 1 and 2 pairings has also gone down as Fernando Belasteguín (who was returning from injury) and Pablo Lima were defending 1000 points and lost in the quarter finals, dropping 820 points, leaving their total at 12,700 pointsPaquito Navarro and Sanyo Gutiérrez dropped 240 points and now have a total of 10,700 points.

Juan Cruz Belluati and Alejandro Galán rise up for yet another week, gaining one place to establish themselves in fifteenth. They're involved in an all-out battle for a place in the Master Final. Up to twelve pairings are within 1000 points of each other and are in with a fighting chance of reaching the end of year event.

The biggest rise after Gran Canaria belongs to Ignacio González Gadea and Gerard Company who have gone up three places to 43rd and 49th respectively.
