The perfect storm!

The first game on Sunday morning at the Palacio de Deportes Jose Maria Martin Carpena was the women’s final of the Cervezas Victoria Malaga Open between number one pair Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar against the in-form duo of Delfi Brea and Tamara Icardo.

The opening set was hotly contested, Gemma and Alejandra twice taking a break advantage but twice being broken back, leaving the set tied at 5-5. At 6-5, however, The number one pair managed to break and win the first set, which lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes.

The second set was a completely different story, with number one ranked player Gemma Triay PLAYING like a number one, her net play proving impossible to handle for her opponents as they raced to a dominant 5-0 lead.

Icardo and Brea manage to break back to make it 5-2, but Gemma and Alejandra didn’t let the game slip from there, breaking back to win the game 7-5 6-2 and with it, their third tournament of the year as they win the Cervezas Victoria Malaga Open.
