It's here. The first Open exclusively for wome in the history of the World Padel Tour, the Madrid WOpen, got underway at the Reebok Sports Club La Finca. Qualifying has concluded and four pairings have made it into the round of the 32 of the main draw.
Jessica Castelló and Anna Cortiles achieved their third qualification for the main draw by winning 6-3 / 6-4 against Marina Pinacho and Marta González de la Fuente. Their first round opponents on Wednesday are Vanesa Alonso and Isabel Domínguez.
A newly formed pairing which blends youth and experience such as Alicia Berl and Araceli Martínez , were rewarded with a slot in the main draw of the WOpen by beating Helena Wyckaert and Marta Porras 7-6 / 6-4. Ángela Caro and Nuria Rodríguez will be their first round opponents.
The third ticket of the afternoon was booked by Laia Bonilla and Alicia Seijas, who fought back to win 1-6 / 7-6 / 6-3 against Nuria Rovira and Filipa Mendonça. They will take on the number 6 seeds, Cata Tenorio and Bea González, this Wednesday.
The last place in the main draw went to Esther Carnicero and Melania Merino, who also bounced back from losing the first set against Marina Martínez Lobo and Carmen Goenaga, winning 2-6 / 6-4 / 6-0 and setting up a meeting with Nela Brito and Aranza Osoro.
