The first pairing to pull off a surprise were Cardona-Oliveira who took a two-set win to knock out Argentine duo Tamame-Britos.Their opponents this afternoon for a place in the main draw will be Alejandro Galan and Juan Cruz Belluati who beat Marcelo Capitani and Jesus Espejo 6/3, 4/6, 7/5.Another of this evening's matches, not before 20:30, will pit together Cristian German Gutierrez-Antonio Luque and David Gutierrez-Francisco Chico Gomes. Luque and Gutierrez got the better of Argentine pairing Cutu Perez Millan and Juan Manuel Restivo (6/3, 7/5), while Brazilian Gomes and Argentine Gutierrez needed three sets to knock out Andoni Bardasco and Portugal's Diogo Rocha (1/6, 6/3, 6/4).In one of the closest matches of the morning, new pairing Ignacio Gonzalez Gadea and Javier Ruiz fought back from a set down to win 3/6, 7/6, 6/4 against Jake Benzal and Cristian Calneggia. Now they will play for a place in the main draw against Victor Ruiz and Javier Limones, who won against local pairing Luis Dominguez and Raul Perez (6/4, 6/3).The last ticket to be amongst the best 28 pairings at the Gran Canaria Open will be decided between Raul Marcos-Raul Diaz and Ricardo Martinez-David Leal. The pairing from Madrid won 6/2, 7/5 against the duo from Malaga, Jose Carlos Gaspar and Jeronimo Gonzalez. Meanwhile, Martinez-Leal took a convincing 6/0, 6/3 victory against Jacobo Blanco and Javier Redondo.All four matches will be played this evening at 19:00 and 20:00 at La Calzada.
