The semifinals of the fourth Challenger of the season on the World Padel Tour, the Cabrera de Mar Challenger 2018, took place in fascinating day of padel at the Club Clark Padel.
Chingotto/Lijó vs Allemandi/Garrido
Two of the best pairings on paper took each other on for a place in the final: Adrián Allemandi - Javier Garrido vs Federico Chingotto - Pablo Lijó. Despite having come together for this tournament, Lijó and Chingotto have been solid throughout and dominated the first set to win 6-2 . Garrido and Allemandi turned things around in the second set and held onto a break to win 6-4. In the third set, Garrido and Allemandi were spurred on by their fightback and won 6-3 in a match that lasted two hours.
Ruiz/Diestro vs Fernández/Oliveira
All that was left was to decide who would take them on in the final. That would come from the clash between Víctor Ruiz - José Antonio García Diestro and surprise package Antonio "Pincho" Fernández - Miguel Oliveira. The Spanish/Portuguese pairing held on until the ninth game. Diestro and Ruiz broke and won the set 6-4. The match had been played at a tremendous pace and Fernandez/Oliveira struggled to keep up in the second set which Ruiz and Diestro raced away with at 6-2 in an hour and 18 minutes.
