There are under two weeks to go for the fifth tournament of the season on the World Padel Tour, the Valladolid Open 2018 will bring together the best players on the planet. After the rankings were updated, with the points from the Estrella Damm Barcelona Master 2017 dropped, there have been important changes in the fight for the number one ranking. Here's a look at those changes:
The fight at the top is heating up dramatically. Fernando Belasteguín and Pablo Lima are on top on 12,070 points. Their advantage over Sanyo Gutiérrez is now just 575 points. His partner, Maxi Sánchez, is now 1770 points behind. For the first time this season, a change at the top is at stake at a tournament. Juan Mieres has the same amount of points as Miguel Lamperti, with both in 9th place on 4090 points. The biggest climber is Martín Di Nenno, who has gone up 5 places from 49th to 44th.
There haven't been that many changes in the women's rankings. The top ten remains the same with Majo and Mapi Sánchez Alayeto on top. Bea González continues to improve and is now 19th on 1462 points. Paula Josemaría is the biggest riser, gaining five places from 44th to 39th.
