The countdown to the tenth tournament of the season is over. The Lugo Open 2018 has unveiled its draws and pathways to the title. Marta Ortega helped out taking the names out of the hat, with the tournament starting this Sunday with prequalifying at the Centro Deportivo D10 while the two centre courts at Pazo Universitario dos Deportes stage their first activity on Wednesday the 5th of September.
Men's qualifying ends on Tuesday, with four pairings making it through to the main draw, which begins on Wednesday at Pazo Universitario Dos Deportes. As always, the first round has thrown up some enthralling clashes such as Javi Ruiz and Uri Botello versus Agustín Gómez Silingo and Álex Ruiz, which is a repeat of the Melilla Challenger. Fede Quiles and Francisco "Chico" Gomes take on their training partners Lucas Campagnolo and Lucas Bergamini. One of the most in-form duos this season, Juan Cruz Belluati and Juan Lebrón are up against the winners of the Madrid Challenger: Pablo Lijó and Maxi Grabiel. The seeds begin in the second round on Thursday the 7th of September.
Women's qualifying concludes on Wednesday the 6th at midday and the main draw begins that very afternoon. Some standout first round clashes include Valeria Pavón and Paula Josemaría versus Teresa Navarro and Victoria Iglesias, numbr 5 seeds Patricia Llaguno and Elisabet Amatriaín versus one time quarter finalists this season Delfina Brea and Ana Catarina Nogueira or recent semifinalists Carolina Navarro and Cecilia Reiter against Marta Talaván and Tamara Icardo.
