Finland will host its first-ever World Padel Tour event with the Tampere Exhibition midway through 2022.

The northernmost event in World Padel Tour history takes place between June 30th and July 3rd, during the weeks of 'nightless nights' in Finland, with the sun never going down.

“2022 is the biggest and most international season in the history of World Padel Tour," said Mario Hernando, World Padel Tour's general director.

"It is great to finally have an event in Finland as well. We look forward to what the northernmost World Padel Tour tournament of all time has to offer us.“

With just over 5,5 million inhabitants, Finland has over 60.000 padel players and more than 650 courts spread across the country.

At current pace, this will catapult up to 100.000 players and over 1000 courts in 2023. Finland also offers unique outdoor experiences during the summer as the sun does not go down. This means anyone can play in natural light at any hour.""

“Finland has padel fever," added Aleksi Jäntti, Tampere's Deputy Mayor. "It is exciting to finally get an official WPT event to Finland and especially during the midsummer weeks of nightless nights.”

The Tampere Exhibition 2022 will draw both national and international fans to the city of Tampere to see some of the best padel players in the world.

Besides the midnight sun and the vast nature surrounding the city, Tampere also offers great authentic sauna experiences as Tampere is known as the 'sauna capital of Finland'.

“Tampere is a safe and magical summer city surrounded by nature, which makes it perfect to welcome the global padel community to the city; to enjoy the Exhibition event, and so much more,” said Eetu Rahkola, founder of local padel club Padel Tampere.

Tampere is located in Western Finland just two hours from the capital Helsinki. The Exhibition event will be held at the Tampere Ice Stadium, or Hakametsä, as the locals know it.

Hakametsä is the oldest hockey arena in Finland. The venue has hosted several prestigious sports events such as European and World Championships of boxing, wrestling and ice hockey. With a capacity of 7.300, it is the perfect place to host the first Finnish World Padel Tour event.

“We cannot wait to announce the first players to feature in the Exhibition. It will be a week of padel for the global padel and sports community to remember. Tickets will go on sale in February,” adds Tampere Exhibition 2022 organiser Marko Kuusisto.
