Spectacular comeback gives Navarro/Di Nenno first 2022 title in Vigo

Two-seed Martín Di Nenno and Paquito Navarro have claimed their first tournament of the season as they came back from a set down to beat Juan Lebrón and Alejandro Galán in the Vigo Open 2022 final.

Vigo was Navarro and Di Nenno's first final as a pairing back in 2021 and they did one better this time. They had also never beaten Lebrón and Galán in finals before, facing them for the first time since Menorca.

This result leaves Di Nenno and Navarro closing the gap to the number ones, with 21 tournaments still to go to determine the number one by the end of 2022.

Galán and Lebrón started with their typical aggression and pace, breaking in the very first game and then again at 1-3. Navarro especially was not tuned into the match, and the set finished 2-6.

The second set started with another break for Galán and Lebrón, but this time, they were counter-broken immediately, and then again later in the set. Di Nenno led the way as the frame ended 6-3 to force a decider.

It went to the last set to decide the tournament winners. Another break came in the first game, this time to Navarro/Di Nenno, but they too were counterbroken immediately. However, they broke again later in the set and finished the match on a gold point, closing it 6-4.
