Tuesday saw the Adeslas Santander - Cantabria Open 2022 qualifying stages come to an end at the Pabellón Soto de la Marina.

While there was no joy for international players, there was drama aplenty on the Spanish north coast as there was only room for four pairs in the main draw.

Check out what happened in the summaries below!

Cánovas/Guinart vs Alonso/Velasco

The first ticket to the main draw was fought out between Noa Cánovas and Marina Guinart on one side, and Lorena Alonso and Jimena Velasco on the other.

Cánovas and Guinart were favourites on paper as the highest-seeded couple in the qualifying rounds, but they struggled to get a hold of the first set.

They eventually took it via the tie-break 7-6(3) to put themselves ahead, and carried on in the second set.

Mustering a break's advantage there, Cánovas and Guinart held on to take the set 6-4 and punch their ticket to the main draw.

Piltcher/Fernández vs Merino/Alonso

Three-seed Melania Merino and Alejandra Alonso were in action next, playing against Ana Fernández and Brazilian Raquel Piltcher.

Piltcher and Fernández were the better side from start to finish, winning the opening set with solid distance between themselves and their opponents; 6-3.

They managed to improve on that score in the second set, breaking twice and racing to 6-2 and granting themselves passage into the main draw.

""

Blanco/Ruiz vs Casali/Rodriguez

Three-seed Alicia Blanco and Sara Ruiz were in action next against Maria Rodríguez and Italian Carlotta Casali.

Blanco and Ruiz were clear favourites against the pre-qualifying couple Casali and Rodríguez, and it showed in the first set.

The Spaniards won 6-2. In the second set, Casali and Rodríguez had to abandon the match after an injury prevented them from competing.

Brito/Pujals vs Pinacho/Herrada

Finally, the Spanish-Argentinian combination of Sara Pujals and Nela Brito stepped onto court 2 against Marina Pinacho and Mireia Herrada.

With nothing to separate the two sides, there was not a single break in the whole set. In the subsequent tie-break, Brito and Pujals' experience shun through as they won 7-6.

They carried this momentum into the second set, where they did muster a break to put themselves ahead on the scoreboard.

It finished 7-6 6-4 as Brito and Pujals march on into the main draw.
