Sanyo and Tapia deny Navarro and Di Nenno number one status in semi-finals masterclass

One of the most anticipated matches of the semi-finals had Paquito Navarro and Martín Di Nenno face Argentinians Sanyo Gutiérrez and Agustín Tapia.

In a battle between the two-seed and the three-seed, Sanyo and Tapia were the better side to start the match as they broke straight off the bat and went 3-0 up.

Navarro and Di Nenno tried to come back and had an opportunity to do so, but they were not feeling comfortable on the 20x10. Sanyo Gutiérrez and Agustín Tapia secured their service and took the opening set 6-3.

Onto the second set, where both tandems were evenly matched at 2-2. It was in the fifth game when Gutiérrez and Tapia got the lead to have one leg in Sunday's final.

Even though number one status was on the line for Navarro and Di Nenno, they could not handle the unleashed Sanyo and Tapia. The third-seeded pairing won 6-3 6-3 and will face Juan Lebrón and Alejandro Galán in the final of the Estrella Damm Master Final 2021.
