Sanyo and Paquito roll on

Santana and Cepero lose in 58 minutes against the number two seeds

Sanyo and Paquito roll on

The quarter finals of the Masters got underway in Lisbon. Centre court was the sole stage for the four battles that took place on a sunny Friday in the Portuguese capital. The champions in Seville, Paquito Navarro and Sanyo Gutiérrez entered the scene to take on the best Spanish pairing in the WPT rankings, Aday Santana and Álvaro Cepero.

Paquito and Sanyo hit the ground running

The confidence they acquired by winning in Paquito Navarro's homeland has seen Ramiro Choya's men up their padel to another level and their opponents suffered the consequences in a devastating first set from the Andalsuian and the Argentine. Santano and Cepero only managed to win one game on serve, the rest was an abusive display from the number two seeds. Two breaks in just over 30 minutes gave them the first set 6-1.

Santana and Cepero can't respond

After sitting down to talk things out once the first set ended, Santana and Cepero came out with the idea of reacting. At 1-1 they broke Sanyo and a possible comeback was on the cards. But their rebellion was crushed in an instant. The number two seeds took the following five games with two breaks to win 6-2 and vanquish Cepero and Santana's hopes. Paquito Navarro and Sanyo Gutierrez are the first semifinalists of the Portugal Padel Master 2017.
