Menorca's very own Gemma Triay and her partner Alejandra Salazar survived a three-set epic in their Estrella Damm Menorca Open 2022 bow on Thursday.
Lorena Rufo and Carla Mesa took a set off 2021's number ones of the world and were briefly ahead in the final set, but Salazar and Triay managed to turn around the situation.
Elsewhere in the round of 16, five-seed Aranza Osoro and Victoria Iglesias saw their island adventure come to an early end as they were eliminated on Thursday.
