Marrero and Salazar broke first in the fifth game. The conditions weren't too favourable for Marrero's powerful play and therefore they had to find different ways to dominate. Alejandra Salazar was key in breaking in the seventh game and sealing the set at 6-2 in under 42 minutes. They found a way to silence Reiter and Navarro's quality and they broke in the first game of the second set to control proceedings. Reiter and Navarro had a couple of break point opportunities at 4-1 down but succumbed 6-1.
