Seven-seed Alejandro Ruiz and Momo Gonzalez have stunned Arturo Coello and Fernando Belasteguin as the Spaniards thrashed the third-placed couple 6-3 6-2.
Coello and Bela, who could have still ended the season as the number two-seed with a tournament win at the Estrella Damm Barcelona Master Final 2022, have seen their year come to a surprise end instead.
Both of Ruiz and Gonzalez' finals in 2022 came at Master events, and they are now just a single step away from the final at the Palau Sant Jordi.
Gonzalez will finish the season in the highest ranking he has ever achieved, currently 14th, and could still move up places depending on results.
