World Padel Tour fans were treated to a weekend of drama, excitement and world-class padel as the Circuit traveled to the south of Spain.

Both number one pairs, Alejandro Galán and Juan Lebrón on the men's side and Alejandra Salazar and Gemma Triay for the women, could confirm number one status for 2o21 with victory on Sunday.

Salazar and Triay also went into the Cordoba Open having won 17 games and four tournaments straight, the second-longest streak in World Padel Tour history after Majo and Mapi Sánchez Alayeto's record 30-game winning streak.

Sit back, relax, and catch up with all the action from Saturday and Sunday from the Cordoba Open on-demand!

Semi-finals - Morning

Our English live coverage started with Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría, who sat out the Menorca Open through Sánchez' injury, against two former number ones in Marta Marrero and Lucía Sainz.

After, The Boss Fernando Belasteguín, widely regarded as the greatest padel player of all time, and his new teenage partner Arturo Coello took on the in-form pairing of Francisco Paquito Navarro and Martín Di Nenno.

  • 1:58:50 Fernando Belasteguín/Arturo Coello (6) VS Paquito Navarro/Martín Di Nenno (2)

Semi-finals - Afternoon

Both number one pairs were in action in the afternoon shift, starting off with Triay and Salazar. They faced Aranzazu Osoro and Victoria Iglesias, a pair that made their sixth semi-finals of the season but had never progressed past that stage. Triay and Salazar were targeting their 10th final of the season in 15 tournaments.

In the final game on Saturday, the men's number ones Galán and Lebrón played a pair who had already beaten them earlier in the year in Madrid. Franco Stupaczuk and Alejandro Ruiz, winners of the Sardegna Open, were hoping to make their first finals appearance since then.

Timestamps

  • 3:05 Alejandra Salazar/Gemma Triay (1) VS Aranza Osoro/Victoria Iglesias (7)
  • 1:33:50 Franco Stupaczuk/Alejandro Ruiz (5)  VS Juan Lebrón/Alejandro Galán (1)

Finals

For the fourth time in 2021, Sánchez and Josemaría would face Salazar and Triay in a final. Losing the previous three, the number two pair were armed to the teeth to finally overcome the number ones to win their fifth tournament of the year. If Salazar and Triay could win the all-Spanish final, they would confirm number one status for 2021.

After causing the upset of the tournament, Stupaczuk and Ruiz were feeling confident to go all the way in Cordoba. On the other side of the 20 by 10, Navarro and Di Nenno were hoping to end their streak of finals losses. While they made it to the last round for the fifth straight time, they lost the previous four.

Timestamps

  •  3:25 Ariana Sánchez/Paula Josemaría (2) VS Alejandra Salazar/Gemma Triay (1)
  • 3:03:00 Paquito Navarro/Martín Di Nenno (2) VS Franco Stupaczuk/Alejandro Ruiz (5)
