The world top ranked pairing of Alejandro Galán and Juan Lebrón won their fourth title of the season in Cascais with a victory in three sets over Fede Chingotto and Juan Tello on Sunday.

The Spanish partnership had to come back from a set down to win 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 in just over two and a half hours, and they were made to fight all the way by the Argentines.

In the first set Tello had to save 3 break points in the fourth game before they broke the serve of Galan in the fifth and Lebron’s in the seventh to take a one set lead.

In the second Tello was broken in the fourth game, but the Argentines came from behind in the seventh to break Lebron back with a golden point. In the ninth game the eventual winners had to save 4 break points to keep their hopes alive before breaking serve again in the twelfth and final game to take us to a third and final set.

The decisive set saw a break come on Lebron’s serve in the third game, but then Chingotto was broken back in the sixth, to make it 3-3. At this point the play was scintillating from both pairs and it was impossible to predict a winner.

But in the eighth game the key break came against Tello’s serve and Galan held his nerve to serve out for the match and the title, that keeps them firmly ahead in the Race for the men’s title on the World Padel Tour this season.
