We've had to wait over 90 days to see the ball back in action. A long time which finally ended with the start of the Estrella Damm Catalunya Master at the Olimpic de Badalona. These were the results:
Gutiérrez/Vázquez VS Quiles/Allemandi.
Quiles and Allemandi broke right at the start and furthered their advantage in the fifth game by making it 4-1 to go and win the set 6-2. However, Cristian Germán Gutiérrez and Guga Vázquez weren't going to go down without a fight on their season debut and won the second set 6-4. The final set went to the pairing coached by Ramiro Choya. 6-4 was the scoreline as Allemandi/Quiles made it to the last sixteen.
Lebrón/Belluati VS Restivo/Di Nenno
The second match in the morning session saw the debut of Juan Lebrón and Juan Cruz Belluati who would gauge how far Juan Manuel Restivo and Martín Di Nenno have come. At 3-0 in the opening minutes, the Spanish/Argentine duo got on their way to winning the first set 6-3. It was the same score in the second set, but this time to Restivo and Di Nenno. Everything would be decided in the third, where Lebron and Belluati went up a gear to win a hardfought clash 6-2.
Marcos/Díaz VS Rivera/Company
The morning session ended with a very even clash, and a big chance for both pairings to reach the second round. Raúl Marcos and Raúl Díaz want to ensure they are directly in main draws at events and to do so they need to beat direct opponents such as Rubén Rivera and Gerard Company. But it was the Catalans who proved why they have the better ranking as they won 6-2 / 6-2 to reach the last sixteen of their home Master.
