The inaugural Amsterdam Open 2022 was a resounding success on all fronts, with records being broken on WorldPadelTourTV, WPT's OTT service.

WPTTV has nearly 600.000 users worldwide almost a year since its inception, with almost 15.000 new users added in the past week during the Amsterdam Open.

In another event chock-full of surprises, Arturo Coello and Fernando Belasteguín would hoist the title on Sunday evening in the men's circuit, while Marta Ortega and Bea González emerged victorious in the women's bracket.

Digging into the numbers

The tournament in the Netherlands was seen over 2.300.000 times throughout the week on WPTTV, with almost 1.400.000 live views during the various broadcasts.

The largest live viewership throughout the tournament was during the men's final, where over 33.700 people were tuned in at the same time to watch Belasteguín and Coello put the finishing touches on another successful week.

While the abovementioned statistics are impressive, they are both not record-breaking for WorldPadelTourTV, underlining the success the app and online platform have had since launch.

A record that was broken during the Amsterdam Open 2022 was the one of average session length. Each viewer throughout the week watched for an average of 48,8 minutes every time they tuned in to a live broadcast, more than at any other tournament before and an average considerably higher than in other sports like football or basketball.

WPT can also be seen on television in 125 different countries via providers like Movistar, Canal +, BT, Ziggo, Telenet, DirecTV, Viaplay, Sky Sport, Sky Mexico, Eleven, Zapping, Cosmote and One Israel.

In what is the most international season in the competition's history, it is no coincidence that World Padel Tour is growing quicker than ever across the globe.
