Unstoppable Navarro and Di Nenno impose their will in Buenos Aires Master semi-final

The first Buenos Aires Master semi-final saw number two-ranked Paquito Navarro and Martin Di Nenno put against the fifth-seeded Alejandro Ruiz and Franco Stupaczuk. These two pairs had already met last time out at the Malmö Padel Open semi-finals when Navarro and Di Nenno won in straight sets.

Navarro and Di Nenno were in their ninth consecutive final. The bad news for Ruiz and Stupaczuk was their opponents had made the final the previous six tournaments, with the Spanish-Argentinian duo in red-hot form.

As the fans at La Rural's centre court jumped up and down, the match started with both pairings very evenly matched.

No breakpoints or gold points were disputed in the opening half of the set. Then, in the fifth game, Di Nenno and Navarro got the sought-after break. It proved to be enough as the number two pair saw out the set 6-4, putting one foot in Sunday's final.

In the second set, the dynamic was very similar to the beginning of the match with both pairings defending their service with great efficiency. After a break by Paquito and Di Nenno, Stupa and Ruiz managed to answer with a counter break.

This did not stop the number two's from pressing even further, however. At 4-4, they found the crucial breakthrough. After an hour and 15 minutes, Navarro and Di Nenno won the Buenos Aires Master semi-final 6-4 6-4, exactly the same score as in Malmö, to book their place in their seventh consecutive final. The chase for number one status in 2021 lives on.
