Navarro & Di Nenno take down Bela in sensational Cordoba Open semi-finals

Francisco Paquito Navarro and Martín Di Nenno are through to their fifth straight final after besting Fernando Belasteguín and Arturo Coello in two tie breaks in the Cordoba Open semi-finals.

One of the most hotly anticipated games of the tournament, the clash at center court did not disappoint. If anything, it exceeded expectations as there was nothing to split the two sides.

Navarro and Di Nenno are one of the most in-form World Padel Tour pairs, facing a fresh partnership in Bela and Coello, who were playing their fourth game alongside each other. Neither team budged in an enthralling first set, with one chance to break appearing for Bela and Coello. They could not take either of the two break points, nor could Navarro and Di Nenno when two break points came their way.

It went down to a tie break. Di Nenno and Navarro took a mini-break straight off the bat, and looked in control. They won the opening set 7-6(4).

As close as it gets

The second act was more of the same, with neither duo finding an opening to break. Or so it seemed. In a match with spectacular rallies in abundance, the first break came at 1-1. Bela and Coello finally took an advantage, only to give it right back. Di Nenno and Navarro puffed their chests out and broke straight back.

Again, the set boiled down to a tie break. Again, Di Nenno and Navarro took the lead, with 24-year-old Di Nenno playing on a different level. The Argentinian got to anything and everything, winning the final point in spectacular fashion.

After winning the second tie break 7-4 too, Paquito Navarro and Martín Di Nenno got past the Cordoba Open semi-finals and ensured their place in the Cervezas Victoria Cordoba Open final. Despite there only being two sets, the game lasted almost two-and-a-half hours.
