Navarro and Di Nenno take second tournament with Cordoba Open win

Francisco Paquito Navarro and Martín Di Nenno have taken the Cervezas Victoria Cordoba Open win on Sunday afternoon.

The final game of the week at the Palacio Vista Alegre saw one Spanish-Argentinian duo take down another as Franco Stupaczuk and Alejandro Ruiz were beaten in straight sets.

How it happened

The sky seemed the limit for Stupa and Alex Ruiz after beating number ones Alejandro Galán and Juan Lebrón on Saturday, but their opponents in the final were on it from the start.

Di Nenno and Navarro, perhaps with their Sardegna Open final loss to Stupa and Ruiz in mind, broke early in the first set. 4-1 up after five games, they had not made a single unforced error.

The number two ranked pair was outstanding, and won the first set 6-3 after just over 40 minutes.

Cordoba Open win and sweet revenge

Paquito and Di Nenno could smell their second tournament of the season. They could almost taste a Cordoba Open win. They never let their opponents into the game, again breaking early and not letting go.

Manager Carlos Pozzoni tried to rally his troops Stupaczuk and Ruiz, but to no avail. In a repeat of the first set, the second frame finished 6-3 as well.

Di Nenno and Navarro get their revenge for the Sardegna Open final, and after losing four straight finals, they finally have their second win of the season.

Everything worked for us today. We won all the gold points, which turned turned the game in our favour a lot.

With just three unforced errors made all game compared to 19 for Stupa and Ruiz, Navarro and Di Nenno were clinical. Their hopes to be number ones remains intact although very unlikely.

With a Cordoba Open win now in the bag, however, they will only grow stronger from here.
