They're celebrating on the streets of San Luis. After winning the Oeiras Valley Portugal Padel Masters, his sixth title of the season alongside Sanyo Gutiérrez, 31 year old Maxi Sánchez has climbed three spots to sit on top of the world rankings, putting an end to Pablo Lima's reign. The Argentine is on 13270 points, with Sanyo Gutierrez second on 13135, Pablo Lima third with 11630 and 16 times end of year number one, Fernando Belasteguín, in fourth place on 10960 points.
Maxi Sanchez was grateful towards his partner after reaching this new height: "If I didn't have Sanyo next to me, none of this would have been possible. We were two kids who left our homes in search of a dream and today it's come true".
As of this Monday, Sanyo Gutierrez and Maxi Sanchez will be the world number one pairing and will be the top seeds for the Granada Open which takes place from the 10th to the 14th of October at the Palacio de los Deportes de Granada. You can view the full World Padel Tour rankings here.
