The first men's semifinal on centre court saw the world number two pairing take on the surprise package of this event, who managed to knock out Stupa and Cristian in the quarter finals: Sanyo Gutiérrez - Maxi Sánchez vs Lucas Bergamini - Lucas Campagnolo.
Oozing confidence and brimming with hope in the face of this first time opportunity, Bergamini and Campagnolo displayed all the attributes which led them to this round in a devastating first set in which they destroyed one of the most solid pairings on tour. 6-2 to the Brazilians who were dreaming with a place in Sunday's final.
The break between sets allowed Sanyo and Maxi to gather their thoughts and they adjusted their strategy for the battle ahead. Sanyo switched himself on and Maxi was returning Campagnolo's smashes off the wall. This changed things drastically and they won the second set 6-1. The final would be decided in the third set.
The momentum was with Sanchez and Gutierrez and they went 2-0 up but there was still a Brazilian revolution on the cards, and they broke back to make it 2-2. However, the number one seeds weren't planning on exiting the tournament in the semifinals and they broke back immediately. They would go on to win the match 6-2. The Brazilians bow out after an impressive run, while Sanyo Gutierrez and Maxi Sanchez will feature in the final.
