In their first quarterfinals as a pairing, Nerone and Cepero maintained the solid game that took them this far and had the number one seeds with their backs against the wall. A 4-1 lead on the back of two breaks was proof of this. With Nerone firm at the net and Cepero providing the magic, they won the first set 6-2 in under 40 minutes. In the second set, the duo from San Luis started reducing their unforced errors and dominated the net. Maxi was more solid and Sanyo was back to his magical self and they won the set 6-1 in a radical turn of events. This changing of the tide favoured Sanyo and Maxi completely, and they broke in the fifth game of the final set. Another break in the seventh game all but sealed the match, with Sanyo and Maxi winning 6-2 eventually after an hour and forty minutes.
