Former partners Mati and Maxi would take each other on for the first time at the Olimpico de Badalona. Sanyo Gutiérrez and Maxi Sánchez started the match with some doubts and Matías Díaz - Ale Galán, who were on the back of thrashing Juan Martin Diaz and Paquito Navarro, were dominating the net. After breaking back, Sanyo and Sanchez started to gain control. The pairing coached by Nito Brea made the most of this moment and broke down their opponents' defence. It was 6-3 to Sanyo and Maxi.The second set was an even affaire yet again. An all out battle between four warriors who were offering the fans a true spectacle. The first pairing to break were Maxi and Sanyo. Ale and Mati weren't going to throw in the towel and were on return at 5-4 down. It was a difficult task and Sanyo-Maxi made the most of one of the match points they had. 6-4 in the second set and the duo from San Luis will start 2018 with a final.
