The last place in the final of the Gran Canaria Open was in play between the number 2 and 3 ranked pairings on the World Padel Tour: Paquito Navarro/Sanyo Gutiérrez versus Mati Díaz / Maxi Sánchez

The pairing coached by Severino Iezzi got off to a devastating start by breaking in the third game and taking a 3-1 lead. The Argentine pairing won the majority of the remaining games, finishing off with another break to win the first set 6-2.

The second set started in the same way that the first one finished, with Mati and Maxi breaking their opponents' first service game. But this time Paquito Navarro and Sanyo Gutierrez didn't let them escape. They broke back immediately and made it 2-2. Both pairings exchanged blows but no one found a way to get away and the set went into a tiebreak. This time the set went to the number two pairing, making it one set all.

The third set would decide who would reach the final. The Andalusian and the Argentine struck first. They broke early and consolidated their advantage. Mati and Maxi broke back a couple of games later to make it 4-4. There would be no more breaks and the match would be decided by a tiebreak. Maxi Sanchez emerged at that stage in a decisive role to win the match. Mati Diaz and Maxi Sanchez reach the final in Gran Canaria.
