Marta Ortega and Ariana Sánchez regain their smile and a place in the semifinals

The Valladolid Open said goodbye to the Club Raqueta with a clash between two pairings fighting for the number 4 ranking: Patricia Llaguno - Elisabet Amatriaín vs Marta Ortega - Ariana Sánchez.

After four games, both pairings had broken once. All four players tried to impose their tempo but it was Sanchez and Ortega who were just a cut above as they broke for 4-3. Patty and Eli came close to breaking back on a couple of occasions  but Sanchez and Ortega defended fiercely and won the first set 6-4. Llaguno and Amatriain's resistance took a hammering in the second set, with Martita and Ari winning the first four games. The youngest winners of an Open in the history of the tour got themselves back in a semifinal with a 6-2 scoreline in the second set which sealed the victory after an hour and thirty minutes.
