The year 2019 in World Padel Tour had two clear protagonists: Marta Marrero and Marta Ortega. 'Las Martas' dominated the Women's Circuit from start to finish, hitting the table since the first tournament of the year. The city of Marbella was going to witness the first of the seven titles they raised, a record figure in the history of WPT.
Marbella, Logroño, Vigo, Sweden, Valencia, Portugal and Córdoba would raise them as unquestionable numbers one of the most competitive year of the women's padel. The most constant, the most regular and the most hardworking, because no other couple played as many games as Marrero and Ortega, and no other won so many victories.
In addition, the adventure of the Martas in 2019 could well be called ‘the year of records’, as both players marked two historical milestones in this sport. Marta Marrero became the only player to be number one with two different couples (with Alejandra Salazar and with Ortega). And in Córdoba, Marta Ortega managed to be the youngest number one in the history of World Padel Tour.
