The semifinals got underway with the surprise pairing of the tournament, Cata Tenorio and Bea González, who knocked out the number two seeds Sainz and Triay, facing Marta Marrero and Alejandra Salazar, who were looking for their fourth final of the season.
Marta and Ale were the favourites but they were up against a pairing that has reached the semifinals three times this season and have beaten the best players in the world. Salazar and Marrero broke in the fourth game and consolidated in the fifth which left them 4-1 up. They would break once more to win the first set 6-2.
The fighting spirit of Cata and Bea made them come out stronger in the second set and they surprised Marrero and Salazar with a break that put them 2-0 up. They led until the sixth game, when Ale and Marta responded with two consecutive breaks which turned the set around. They went on to win 6-3. Marta Marrero and Alejandra Salazar will play their fourth final of the season.
