Málaga surrenders to the might of Lima and Tapia

The Malaga Open men’s final featured the pair that won the Las Rozas Open just two weeks ago in Pablo Lima and Agustin Tapia, who faced Martin Di Nenno and Paquito Navarro.

Tapia and Lima didn’t have to play the semi-final because of an injury to Javi Ruiz, and perhaps that extra day of rest helped them come out of the blocks in tremendous form, as they took an advantage of not one but two breaks, with Tapia’s smashes proving deadly as the set finished 6-2.

The second set was extremely tight, with Di Nenno and Navarro showing the best versions of themselves as they scratched and clawed to try and force a third set.

Overcoming several set points, Lima and Tapia forced a tie break, where they again faced set points from the determined Martin and Paquito.

However, they turned it around and won the tie break 9 to 7 to win the set, the game, and the Cervezas Victoria Malaga Open, their second tournament win in a row.
