Malaga quarter-finals: Tapia and Gutiérrez keep streak alive, locals shine on big stage

Friday at the Cervezas Victoria Malaga Open 2022 saw the men's quarter-finals take place, with three-seed Agustín Tapia and Sanyo Gutiérrez looking to keep their streak alive of making every semi-final this season.

Besides that, local players Alejandro Ruiz and Momo González were too seeking to give their home town fans something worth cheering for.

Lima/Stupaczuk (4) vs Campagnolo/Garrido

First up was the four-seed, consisting of Pablo Lima and Franco Stupaczuk, taking on Miami's finalists Lucas Campagnolo and Javi Garrido.

 

Chingotto/Tello (5) vs Yanguas/Nieto

Five-seed Fede Chingotto and Juan Tello were in action next, the Argentinians taking on the young but dangerous duo of Miguel Yanguas and Coki Nieto.

 

Gutiérrez/Tapia (3) vs Sanz/Lamperti

With the one-seed and two-seed knocked out already, numbers three Sanyo Gutiérrez and Agustín Tapia can score a big points haul with a good result in Málaga. They played Jon Sanz and Miguel Lamperti in a bid to make yet another semi-final.

 

Ruiz/González (7) vs Rubio/Benítez

Finally, local boys Alejandro Ruiz and Momo González played in front of their home crowd against surprise package and qualifiers Gonzalo Rubio and Miguel Benítez.
