Lisboa Challenger: first qualified for the 1/8 round

The first six games of the Lisboa Challenger 1/16 round were played this Tuesday and the 1/8 crossings will be completed tomorrow. In the duel of the youngest players, Javier Redondo and Alejandro Galán defeated Adriá Mercadal and Marc Quilez.

Lisboa Challenger: first qualified for the 1/8 round


The central court of the Club VII was host for the first games of the main draw. José Antonio García Diestro from Extremadura and Ruben Rivera from Catalonia were the first to win their pass into the next round, defeating Chico Gomes from Brazil and Argentinean Javier Escalante by 6/4 and 6/3.

Their rivals next Thursday are Aris Patiniotis and Toni Bueno. The Argentinean and the Catalonian also needed two sets to defeat Jake Benzal and Lucas Cunha (6/3 and 6/2).

Juan Manuel Rodríguez from Aegentina returned to the courts of a professional circuit tournament accompanied by Basque Andoni Bardasco. And the debut couldn't have gone better as they won a tight game against a classic couple in padel; Cutu Pérez Millán and Gerardo Derito (6/2, 3/6 and 6/2).


In another tight match Juan Manuel Vázquez and Borja Yribarren defeated Christian Fuster and Miguel Angel Solbes by 3/6, 6/3 and 6/2. Next Thursday they will face third seeded couple of the tournament Gonzalo Díaz and Luciano Capra.


First seeded couple of the tournament Alejandro Ruiz and Matías Marina already know their rivals. They will face another two promising players, Redondo and Galán, who defeated Mercadal-Quilez by 6/1 and 7/5.


In the closing game of the day, Portuguese couple Miguel Oliveira and Vasco Pascoal couldn't give a victory to local fans losing against Víctor Ruiz Remedios and David García Campos by 6/0 and 6/4.

Tomorrow Wednesday at 1 p.m. we will know the six remaining couples that complete the game program of the 1/8 round.
