After getting through a tough morning session, the two winning duos of the semifinals took each other on at the CD Somontes to decide the winner of the fist Challenger of the season on the World Padel Tour. Javier Ruiz and Uriel Botello took on Maxi Grabiel and Pablo Lijó. Both pairings made it to the Madrid Challenger on the back of a quarter final showing at the Caja Rural Jaén Open. Both of them had to also overcome three sets and only had a three hour rest before the final.
Botello and Ruiz broke Lijo's first service game. Botello was solis and Ruiz dangerous with his volley. Lijo and Grabiel didn't take long to react. Lijo's power was the main reason behind this reaction. Grabiel and Lijo took three games on the bounce and went up 3-2. Lijo and Grabiel broke again and Grabiel was making the most of his experience to gain control of the match. They served out the set and won 6-3 in just 38 minutes.
Pablo and Maxi found the way to hurt their opponents and kept it up in the second set. An early break made Botello and Ruiz nervous and they started to connect unforced errors, which Lijo and Grabiel made the most of. They went 3-0 up and then 4-1. They had absolute control of the final and ended up winning the set and the match 6-2 in just an hour and five minutes.
The winners of the Madrid Challenger 2018 are announced.
