A Revolution for the Challenger Tournaments

World Padel Tour and Ultimate Padel Company (UPC) have reached an agreement whereby the Valencian company will take over the exploitation of the Challenger tournaments of the professional Circuit for the next three seasons.

In the constant search to improve the competition, World Padel Tour has reached an agreement with UPC to evolve the Challenger tournaments and position them as a benchmark for professional padel. The alliance between both companies is sealed for the next three seasons, in which UPC is committed to improving the quality of the tests at all levels, betting on spectacle, information and results management.

To achieve greater recognition and visibility of the WPT Challenger, for the first time in history, the 6 events of the 2021 calendar will be played in both categories: men and women. The renewed Challengers will be the ideal setting in which young players can earn more points, increase income and gain visibility.

For Mario Hernando, General Director of World Padel Tour, it is “one more step in the permanent intention of the Professional Circuit to expand, improve and strengthen the professional calendar. The arrival of UPC will allow the Challenger tournaments to take a leap in quality that benefits everyone, especially those young players called to be the future of padel”.

For his part, Jesús Ferrer, Valencian businessman with extensive experience in sports management, Executive President of UPC, is convinced that “we have come to revolutionize the concept of the WPT Challenger tournament, within an ambitious project in which we do not set limits. We have a lot to contribute and we take on this motivating challenge, betting on innovation and our values, which will give shine and prestige to a circuit in which the best players in the world will coexist with the promising young padel players”.

"In this evolution, with the color orange as a flag, a symbol of enthusiasm, fun and youth" -explains César Cano, Executive Vice President of UPC- "we intend not only to surprise, but also to satisfy the needs of the World Padel Tour, players, sponsors, institutions and fans.

The calendar and venues of the 2021 WPT Challenger tournaments will be announced shortly, as well as the rest of the news regarding the competition.
