The second edition of the World Padel Tour WOpen, the Santander WOpen 2019, attended the resurgence of one of the most relevant couples of the circuit in the last campaigns, Gemma Triay and Lucía Sainz, ended a long stage without titles and also managed to add their names to the other four pairs that this course have managed to raise some degree. A fact that shows that we are facing the most open and close season in the history of women's professional padel. Never before, 5 different binomials had managed to put their stamp on a date of the highest level.
Nor ever before, 3 of these titles had been raised by couples who did not start by ranking among the first four pairs of the tournament. This was the case in the cases of Paula Josemaría and Ana Catarina Nogueira, in those of Majo and Mapi Sánchez Alayeto and in this recent triumph of Gemma and Lucía. Clear indicators that speak clearly of how open the female circuit is. So open, that there are no precedents in a professional season of finding up to five champion binomials in a course.
With the title of Sainz and Triay, the distribution of twisted is like this:
Marta Marrero and Marta Ortega ---------- 6 titles
Ariana Sánchez and Alejandra Salazar -----4 titles
Majo and Mapi Sánchez Alayeto-------------1 title
Paula Josemaría and Ana Catarina Nogueira-- 1 title
Gemma Triay and Lucía Sainz ------------------- 1 title
There is still one more appointment before the tournament tournament. Will the Cordoba Open 2019 see another couple joining this cast of champions? The answer as always here on World Padel Tour.
