Javier Garrido and Lucas Campagnolo have won their first title as a couple as the Brazilian-Spanish tandem won the Tau Cerámica Albacete Challenger 2022 on Sunday.

Both players had already won Challenger titles before, but never together, despite reaching the Miami Padel Open final earlier this year.

This further underlines the excellent form Campagnolo and Garrido have shown to start the 2022 campaign. They beat another exciting young duo in Coki Nieto and Miguel Yanguas in straight sets at the Pabellón Universitario de Albacete.

Garrido and Campagnolo started the first set on top of their Spanish opposition, going up 3-1 early with a break's advantage. While Nieto and Yanguas threw everything they had at the event's four-seed to get back in the set, it finished 6-4. A single break proved the difference.

An incredibly tight second set saw both pairings seeking the go-ahead break, but not being able to get it over the line. Tied at 4-4, Nieto and Yanguas squandered a big opportunity to go up.

In the subsequent tie-break, it was Campa and Garrido who overcame their rivals to take the set, and with it, the tournament.

It finished 6-4 7-6, and Lucas Campagnolo and Javi Garrido are the winners of the Tau Cerámica Albacete Challenger 2022!
