Galán and Lebron win thrilling final

Ale Galán and Juan Lebrón got their fourth title of the season on the World Padel Tour with a spectacular three set win over Paquito Navarro and Martín Di Nenno in Lugo.

After victories in Marbella, Santander and Cascais, the win came in what was arguably the best match on the tour so far this season, against an in-form pairing who took the title last week in Barcelona.

An early break apiece in the third game on Galán’s and Navarro’s serve gave us a taste of what was to come. Breaks came again in the sixth and seventh games before Di Nenno’s serve was broken in the all-important tenth game to give the first set by 6-4 to the world number ranked players in 44 minutes.

The second set was again ultra-competitive, with pressure being put on every service game. Serve was held until the fifth when Ale was broken and after forty-five minutes and a run of brilliant points Martín and Paquito took it 6-4 and the delighted fans to a final set.

Gold points were held by the servers in the first two games of the third set and the first break came on Martín’s serve in the fourth game, but a gold point helped Martín and Paquito to counter break straight back in the fifth game only for Paquito to lose his next service game.

This time with the all-important break Juan saved his serve and Ale made sure in the next service game to take a quite thrilling match 6-3 in the final set after two hours and nine minutes.
