Tough battles in Valladolid to reach the main draw

Four pairings make it to the main draw of the Valladolid Open

The last round of qualifying took place at the Club Raqueta de Valladolid which gave four pairings the chance to play in the main draw of the Valladolid Open 2017. Intense battles that went to prove how difficult it is to reach the main draw of the fifth tournament of the season on the World Padel Tour.

The first pairing to reach the last 32 was Toni Bueno and Javier Escalantewho overcame Antonio Luque and Diogo Rocha in a very tough duel that ended 6-7 / 7-6 / 6-2. A clash that could have gone to the Spanish/Portuguese duo but that ended falling Bueno and Escalante's way after winning the second set tiebreak.

The second slot in the main draw went to Juan Tello and Federico Chingotto who claimed a convincing 6-2 / 7-5 win over Martín Di Nenno and Lucas Campagnolo.

Also edging their way into the tournament are Rafael Méndez and Javier Valdéswho won a marathon match 3-6 / 6-4 / 7-6 against Gerard Company and Ruben Rivera. A nail-biting end to a match that saw Chilean Valdes qualify for the first time for the main draw of an event, making history for his country on the World Padel Tour.

The last pairing to make it came from the clash between Nacho Gadea - Germán Tamame and David Leal - Jorge Ruíz Gutiérrez. Gadea and Tamame swept past their opponents to win 6-1 / 6-2 in just over an hour.

The men's draw is ready for centre court at the Plaza Mayor.
